  BACKGROUND CHECK PROCEDURES AND DATES

The protection of all children within Saint Brigid of Kildare’s School and Parish is paramount.  With that in mind, all employees and volunteers 18 years of age and older who have “care, custody, or control” or regular supervised or unsupervised access to children, must complete the following two procedures prior to the first day of volunteering:

Completion of Protecting God’s Children Awareness Session

  Registration can only be done on-line:

ü Log on to www.virtus.org

ü Select “Registration” on the green bar, left side of screen

ü Select “Begin the registration process”

ü Select “Columbus Ohio Diocese”

ü Follow registration instructions for completing form

ü Print the confirmation form received by e-mail and bring it with you to the PGC session.

Late admittance to a PGC awareness session is not permitted, and the participant must stay for the entire session to receive a certificate of completion.

Fingerprinting Background Check

saint Brigid requires that any volunteer in our school/parish/sports/religious education programs be fingerprinted through Saint Brigid, regardless of prior fingerprintings.  Saint Brigid will fingerprint volunteers using the WebCheck System for persons who have resided in Ohio for the past five consecutive years.  Persons living in Ohio less than five years will need to be fingerprinted at their local police station for an FBI check.  FBI fingerprinting cards can be obtained in the school office.

            Open fingerprinting will be held in the school office workroom from 6:00 p.m. to

             9:00 p.m. on the following Tuesdays; no appointments necessary:

                        August 14, 2007                                 December 11, 2007    

                        August 28, 2007                                 January 15, 2008                                

                        September 11, 2007                            February 12, 2008                              

                        September 25, 2007                            March 18, 2008                                  

                        October 16, 2007                                April 15, 2008                        

                        November 13, 2007                            May 13, 2008 

 You will need to bring the following with you:  (1) Ohio Driver’s license, (2) PGC certificate.  In addition, you will need to provide your social security number.
