Music Ministry

St. Brigid includes both choral and instrumental musicians to assist our congregation in song.

A variety of musical styles and genres are used to enhance the weekly celebration of the Eucharist as well as other liturgical celebrations including, but not limited to baptisms, weddings, funerals and vespers.

St. Brigid Music Ministry includes the adult choir, children’s choir, high school youth ensemble, Brigid’s Gael (contemporary group), cantors, organists, pianists, and other instrumentalists who offer their time and talent to enhance the worship experience of the entire parish.

St. Augustine is often quoted as saying “Singing is twice praying.” Every participant in every liturgical celebration is encouraged to sing with the cantor and/or choir to fully participate in the liturgical experience of praise and thanks to God.

Adult Choir

The adult choir sings at the 9:00am Mass from September through May, as well as for the Midnight Christmas Mass, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, Easter Sunday, and Confirmation. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30pm - 9:00pm.

Adult Contemporary Group (Brigid’s Gale)

St. Brigid is home to some talented contemporary music ensembles, including the Adult Contemporary Group. This instrumental and vocal ensemble sings two to three times per month throughout the year at the 10:45am Mass.

Children’s Choir

The children’s choir (Grades 1-8) sings once each month at the 9:00 a.m. Mass from September through May, as well as for the Christmas Eve Vigil Mass (4:00pm). Rehearsals are weekly, immediately following the 9:00am Mass.

High School Youth Ensemble

Members of the High School Youth Ensemble serve as cantors, singers and instrumentalists once each month at a weekend Mass. High school students who wish to share vocal and/or instrumental talents are encouraged to participate. Rehearsals are on alternate Sunday evenings from 5:00pm - 6:00pm.

Cantors

Cantors assist at all weekend Masses by leading through song. They also sing on Feast Days and for Evening Vespers during Advent and Lent. Cantors must have good vocal strength and quality. Ability to read music is helpful but not required.

Instrumentalists

Instrumentalists of all ages are encouraged to audition for ensembles, as accompanists, and as soloists at Mass (e.g. preludes, postludes, etc.).
