Stewardship
Stewardship is an ancient Biblical concept of returning to God a portion of the bounty that God has given us, making us aware that everything in our life is a gift from God.
Stewardship stresses motivations for giving rather than methods. The underlying theory is God owns the world: we are merely custodians in maintaining the world. Everything we have comes from God. We are to return a portion of our time, talent, and treasure to God as an expression of our thankfulness for all of God’s Blessings. The following passage from the Bible supports this concept. This is why during the Tapestry Program we ask parishioners to donate their time, talent, and treasure to St. Brigid of Kildare Parish.
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Peter 4:10
