Prayer and Spirituality ways to participate

There are many ways to participate in the mystery of the Catholic Faith.

Masses

We are above and before all, a Eucharistic community. The most perfect prayer we can offer is to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Mass is offered Monday through Friday at 9:00am and on Tuesday, 9:00am and 12:00pm (noon). Our weekend Mass schedules begins with 5:00pm on Saturday and 7:30am, 9:00am, 10:45am, and 12:15pm on Sundays. The weekday Masses are in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. When school is in session the 9:00am Mass on Thursday is in the Main Church with all the school children.

Liturgical Ministry

Liturgical Ministers are vital to the weekly Eucharistic celebration and the success of the Parish liturgies. Each weekend Mass is celebrated with the support of lay ministers. These ministers are scheduled monthly based upon the Parish’s needs. You must be trained and Commissioned in your respective ministry to serve in a liturgical role for St. Brigid of Kildare Parish. The Liturgical Ministries include: Ministry Captain, Lector, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Greeters, Altar Servers and Ushers/Jr. Ushers. For information on each ministry refer to Liturgical Ministry.

Cantors

Cantors assist at all weekend Masses by leading through song. They also sing on Feast Days and for Evening Vespers during Advent and Lent. Cantors must have good vocal strength and quality. Ability to read music is helpful but not required. For more information, please email Dr. David Brattain or call 614-761-3734.

Eucharistic Adoration

The Church is open daily from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily. All are welcome to come whenever the chapel is open and pray silently before the Blessed Sacrament.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Confessions are heard every Saturday (except Holy Saturday) afternoon in the Church from 4:00pm - 4:30pm.

Seasonal Devotions and Prayer

There are sung Vespers prayed in community on the Sunday evenings of Advent and Lent. These begin at 5:00pm. See the Bulletin for details. Also refer to Advent booklet and Lenten booklet in those seasons. There are Stations of the Cross are on the Tuesday evenings during Lent. These begin at 7:30pm. See Bulletin in Lent for details. Also refer to Advent booklet and Lenten booklet in those seasons.

Soup Suppers

Each Tuesday evening in Lent parishioners gather in Hendricks Hall to enjoy a simple supper together. Each family/group brings a pot of soup sufficient for themselves and enough to share, as well as bread. The meal begins with prayer about 6:30pm. The meal concludes in time to clean up and prepare for Stations of the Cross in the Church.

Family Gathering

Come as a family to the annual Family Gathering on Palm Sunday from 3:30pm - 4:45pm. Each family will be seated together for a presentation, and shared activities within your family. A brief prayer will lead into Vespers and the Parish Lenten Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 5:00pm. Please call 614-761-1176 to register.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

The readings reflect the same message, but at a level the children can more easily understand. Training is available for those who love children and wish to share the Gospel with them.
